Aftershok is a four piece American Classic Heavy Metal band formed in 1996 by well-known singer Vic Hix (ex-Shok Paris) and guitar player George Mihalovich. To those who do not know a legendary singer as Vic, a small discription of what kinda great and very disciplined frontman he still is after so many years.
During the eighties, this person made several albums with a band called Shop Paris which is still one of my favourite icons from that period. Their first album "Go For The Throat", released by Auburn Records was so damn good, this work is still frequently listened to. Follow-up to that monster effort was "Concrete Killers", also a vertebrate album but did not obtain the high level of its predecessor. Those two albums are my favourite ones concerning the band Shok Paris.
Classic US Metal was their name of the game, a unique vocalist named Vic Hix was the chief that kept the mike with a very stronghold. To discribe his way of singing is a hard thing to do because its unique style. He do it all in pure knack, total strength coming out of his lungs as soon as he sings...Vic is one of a kind, belief me but undoubtedly!! Meanwhile, Shok Paris no longer exist. Unfortunately for the true fans but instead, we get another band named Aftershok. Guys joined forces with Vic and George were bassist Nick G. and drummer George B. Line-up complete, ready to Rock'n Roll was their intention.
Debut album was an independent product entitled "Unfinished Business", release in 2002. Got total appreciation from all angles of the world, US Classic Metal maniacs saw that is was real good and asked for more. The fans were rewarded with a second assault, the album "Burning Chrome" was spread by means of specialists of US Metal, Auburn Records! Very nice effort, totally 80s minded and loaded with 11 highly recommended, top notch masterpieces. People who like Shok Paris, don't hesitate guys...this one's for you too!
Again, singer Vic Hix is still in oustanding form. Unique and phenomenal he was to me before, this man keeps on astonishing me each time again. With Aftershok, he's surrounded by skilled-loaded musicians. Advancement of the songs goes very well oiled. Want some power assault from the ears, watch out for songs like: 'Sons Of Thunder, 'Livin' On The Red Line', Bombs Away' or maybe you're in for their mid / up-tempo killers such as: 'Burning Chrome', 'Against The Rage', 'Do You Believe' or 'The Gathering'. Check it out and you won't regret!!
