BACKWASH - KICK ASS

PERRIS RECORDS

METAL TO INFINITY

Ready for some kick-as rock'n'roll?  Well, the appetizer was already released in 2003 as an EP, and although the media appraised the band, it took a few years before the very first full length album of Backwash is a fact. ''Feel Rock' sold very well throughout mother country Switzerland, but this 5-piece band wants to extend their fame all over the frontiers and if possible spread their rock throughout the world.

Their incredible power is now packed on the new record ''Kick Ass'' and like the name points out, these lads are ready to rumble!  Take the best of Guns'n'Roses, Motley Crue and similar outfits and add some AC/DC riffs in the 2007 sound, and you will get an idea what Backwash is all about. Tommy Vetterli took care of the production process and Newsound Studio was entered to complete the entire disk.

The line up of Backwash is Bob on Vocals, Notter and Volli on Guitars, Toby on Bass and Spiga takes care of the drums.   They are dressed to kill and ready to rock, and they will take advantage of this outfit at live gigs. The music of Backwash invites to party, to drink lots of beer, have fun and above all get into the groove of the songs. From opener 'Legless 'till closing track 'Cat Fight', you get a gamut of party rock at full speed with a lot of attention to the lyrics and ambiguous and equivocal bottom lines.

It's really surprising that they hail from Switzerland, because they incline to cross the Atlantic with a US origin.  Preferable from Hollywood / Beverly Hills area where the Hair Bands were common in the musical scene from decades ago.  Backwash takes you on a trip with lousy guitars and riffs, stirring up vocal lines and pumping bass and drum. Their 'sing-along' content takes you by the throat and the songs are stable and equally.

No wonder that this cd is called ''Kick Ass'', because that's exactly how feelings evoke while listening to this album. Perhaps the style of this Swiss band is not hot nowadays and you can't convince the fans of rather Heavier material, one thing is for sure:  If you want organize a party and have fun all the way, this album is the needed tool to get things started!  Increase the volume, get into the songs and you will enjoy from every second that ''Kick Ass'' last.... My rating: 84/100
