GAUNTLET - PATH OF NAILS

INDEPENDENT
METAL TO INFINITY
These guys are from Madrid, Spain and has been formed back in 1998. The lineup of Gauntlet had got it heavily to endure since their existence but strong as they were, these guys never gave up the Metal fight which is the right attitude! Strugglin' through space and time, Gaunlet's line-up started to get fixed form from the moment the right and most matched musicians were found. Five guys, armed with scorching Metal ideas and intentions, rehearsed many, many hours with as aim creating their own Metal sound. Do they have succeeded into this? You better believe it!
First of all, this is a self financed / total independent release and sometimes the sound doesn't feels good. I could be better but with all the technical limations they had to deal with, "Path Of Nails" has an average character concerning the sound quality. My standpoint for this reason tent are actual that it's normal a band recording a debut album the independent way, some problems to put up the head. That about the production of the album but the good news around Gauntlet is yet to come people. Their way of Metal is fantastic, at least that is what I find of it!
This more than one hour album brings a nice blend of Power / Heavy and Thrash Metal with an eighties touch. Ivo Galenov has a wonderful throat, energetic, fully power loaded...even high pitched ways of singing aren't a problem for this guy. Also frontmen of bands like Dark Moor, Arwen, Dreamaker,...to contribution their support on this release. "Path Of Nails" is a total parcel with musical variations to the bone. Also very striking is the extremely well performing of both axemen. Leads and solo's flying around your ears like a sweet desire, excellent! Drum and bass duties...you won't hear me complaining at all!
From the up-tempo Power / Heavy Metal songs straight into more Thrash minded tracks to take back some speed offering a few Metal ballads later on. Talking about an album with lots of variations, Gauntlet can strong and proud with the release of their debut entitled "Path Of Nails". Some people still can still say that it lasted a lot long before their first cd has ended up but i give a damn about that. My personal and final conclusion is these guys have potential and with the help from outside ( i mean record companies, media,...), Gauntlet certainly would be able to mow many other bands without a problem.
Of me they get an absolute approval and hopefully is the signing of a record deal rapidly sacrificed!...to be continued for sure. 80s minded Power / Heavy Metal warriors can take a look to order the album at: www.gauntletmetal.com MY POINTS: 92 / 100
