Thrash Metal is alive and kicking! Don't deny nor fight it because it is an opportunity to bring back the good old days ... I doubt the ultra tight jeans and white basketball shoes will come back but for sure the music is hitting us back again in our face. Next to the giants, although we have to fear Metallica is lost for the true Metal scene, a lot of reunions were realized and a lot of new bands are formed. Especially in the USA there's something moving, an evil force with plenty of vicious and powerful music, just the way we like it!
Not only the USA contains new bands but we also welcome Metal Thrashing Mad youngsters from Europe. On myspace.com I discovered Negligence, a band from Slovenia...Not particular a common country if we talk about Metal but man, these guys blew me away! In spite of the most honorable memories to the mighty Bay Area Thrash Metal movement Negligence produced a CD that must be heard by every fan. This is a pure form of technical Thrash in vein of bands like Forbidden, Testament, Defiance, old Metallica and Anthrax. One look at their Myspace.com webpage makes it obvious these Metal heads are worshipping the forefathers of Thrash which makes it pretty understandable for me to like them.
With a total focus on writing varied compositions, with fast parts and up tempo powerful intermezzos, Negligence delivers you ''Options Of A Trapped Mind''. With high energetic crunchy riffs, empowered by strong bass lines and wide-ranging drum parts, Negligence produces immense shockwaves. The scale of Richter must have noticed them! This Power/Thrash Metal ravager keeps on playing in your mind and it would be beyond any belief if this band can't break through. The guitar parts, including the calm pieces and solos, give Negligence the impression of being a very motivated and professional band. Of course I adore the twin guitars, the breaks, the acoustic parts... This release sounds very mature and is full of elements that will be loved by the real fans of the genre. What you can expect is a band that's catapulted in a realm of creativity, based on the old school inheritance.
Besides the ambitious and competent musicians we also hear a good vocalist who listens to the name of Alex. This guy has a strong voice which fits very well on this kind of music. He has a lot of capabilities and he shouldn't doubt to take more risks within the higher vocal lines. Also the backing vocals are well chosen and good mixed, because of them most songs contain extra powerful refrains and choruses.
Talking about Negligence I can only say the chemistry for me worked right away. Negligence doesn't bring you the original stuff but they and I don't care at all. Playing Metal with the right spirit, as perfect as it can be, is the message and the band proves there is a lot of talent to discover in the Eastern part of Europe.
