The Bereaved is a Swedish outfit started back in 1998 after bass player Mikael Nilsson and guitarist Henrik Tranemyr decided to set up a Metal band. Some other musiciansj oined these guys and as soon as the line up was completed, The Bereaved was ready to go in a fast and furious tempo.
Early 2000, the guys went to the recording studios for a debut demo but unfortunately, it never see the light of day. Actually, a first official demo came out in 2003 entitled "Inverted Icons" and the reactions world wide were fantastic. Nothing but kind words from the media people toward The Bereaved, actually something they really deserved. So, a big step forwards for the band and next important move was to record a first full length album.
Due to the band's great musical skills, many record companies were interested and several contracts were offered. Finally, the decisicion fell and The Bereaved signed a deal with Black Lotus Records. After a while, they were Metal loaded and ready to enter the recording studio for their debut CD called "Darkened Silhouette". Their music is typical Swedish, which means the style of music to expect is Gothenburg minded.
Fast, Melodic Death Metal in the vein of early Dark Tranquillity / In Flames, Sins Of Omission, Gates Of Ishtar,... A few years ago, numerous troops of Gothenburg Metal bands marched on so with a band like The Bereaved it's hard to speak about something new. Production, song structures and everything you wish is very good but i've heard it all before you know. These guys have talent, no doubt 'bout that but i'm not very impressed or surprised with the final results.
