TRIOSPHERE - ONWARDS

FACEFRONT RECORDS

METAL TO INFINITY

Having in mind that Triosphere was going to play at the upcoming Pestpop Festival in Belgium, made me even more curious to unveil this new band from Norway.  I don't know what happened but all in a sudden, the name of Triosphere disappeared from the bill, so we'll have to do it with this album so far....  The band was found in 2004 by guitarplayer Marcus Silver and vocalist/bassplayer Ida Haukland.  A first demo was recorded, and Facefront Records showed interest to sign the band.  The line up of Triosphere is limited to only three members, and Orjan Jorgensen took place behind the drumming kit.

Onwards opens with an instrumental part and gives axe from the very first moment.  Brawny and muscular metal, played at high speed and really intense!  This is how we like it!!  The first track swallows you, and drags you into the second song ''Onwards Pt. II''.  Nearly recovered from the crushing intro, the next surprise is heading your way....  Is this really a girl that takes care of the vocal duties?  Unbelievable that such a tiny, small, scraggy woman has the power and lungs to blow us away! I double checked the booklet for more information, but it seems like Ida Haukland has a real range of action!

The album continuous at the same style and speed and gives no for an answer if you want to take a rest!  Triosphere consists of really skilled muscians and they bring their uptempo speed / power metal in good condition.  Perhaps, there is a small remark, because if you randomly listen to the album and tracks, I do miss a little variation in the vocal parts.  This is an item to work on for the next release!  Luckily, Triosphere isn't following the gothic and female fronted metal style like hundreds do.  No, they want to own their own place on the metal map and I'm sure that there is a spot for this band to be taken! The sound and overall packaging of ''Onwards'' is above the average and invites you to spin the disc once more!

I'm really looking forward to hear more of this band in the near future.  Skilled guitars, rolling drums and pounding bass, that’s exactly how we like it.  Triosphere surprised us a lot with their original style of speed/heavy/power metal and I do hope that they will be able to promote the album with a full and heavy sound.  Having only three members might result in a flat and incomplete presentation, but we'll wait to judge upon that until we see them live...

My hunger is nearly stilled, so I'm curious to hear more from Triosphere in the very near future! My rating: 89/100
