VANILLA REX - BEFORE YOU DIE (DEMO TAPE)

Let me introduce ya'll to a band hailing from Germany who delivers great Metal works since 1988. This '93 demo i'm talking about is the band's third effort incl. 4 old school Metal songs, yes it is! Metal, the older tradition means so much to me, so the only thing i'd like to tell is that a band like Vanilla Rex stole my heart and attention right from the very beginning. Great vocals, awesome guitars, drums...definitely attractive Metal music.
Yeah right, i agree...some of you will say "It's old school stuff" but that is just the point. Don't forget, the real Metal scene started back in the eighties period. It's a bit unusual making a demo review from many years ago, but the guys sent me a package within some great VR releases, incl. two magnificent demo's / CD's and it's my pleasure spreading a few words about it. MY POINTS: 88 / 100
VANILLA REX - SHIT HAPPENS (DEMO TAPE)
In 1994, Vanilla Rex were back with new songs on a demo called "Shit Happens". If i'm fully right, this must be their fourth release ever and the results are excellent! "Before You Die" caughts my attention right away, well this one's even better. More power with snapping rhythm sections, screaming guitars and once again superb vocals...clean throat that cuts real deep.
I've heard many demo's in my life with a horrible sound but the ones i'm talking about here at the moment having an excellent sound quality for sure. Absolutely no reason to complain. Great production, awesome Metal music and you still can order these brilliant demo's via the band's website. Just order before these items are out of print. Click right HERE before it's too late. MY POINTS: 90 / 100

Almost five years after the release of the "Shit Happens" demo, Vanilla Rex surprises us all with 4 new songs ready to unleash. No longer demo recordings so "Requiem In Red" is available as a good sounding CD fullfilled with great Heavy Metal music. I wasn't familiar with VR before receiving a promo package but i had an eye for their music since i've heard all the great works inside. Two demo's who deserves my attention immediately so i was pretty curious about the new songs after a silence of a few years. Let me tell you this! VR holds on to their Heavy Metal tradition, that's for sure and this "Requiem In Red" is a very nice album with lots of melodies, passion and endless technical skills.
All is perfect but the songs differs a bit from the older songs on the demo's. Nothing to worry about but i recognize a new element while hearing the new songs. It seems like the band is more progressive inspired than the older material. Everything is just as usual, great and talented played but the only thing that's changed is the band gives a more progressive touch to their music, actually something that doesn't bother me at all. Nothing's wrong with Progressive Metal, isn't it. Great album and stay close for the review or Vanilla Rex' 2004 release down below! MY POINTS: 85 / 100
